Using the Template

  1. Example product shows how the formulas work.
  2. Placeholder numbers can be replaced with your own costs and prices.
  3. Formulas for total profit and profit margin can be copied from the example product or written in manually.
  4. Comment notes in each cell explain the purpose of the cell.

Included Formulas

  • Total Profit: calculates sale price minus unit cost
  • Retail Price = (Materials + Labour + Unit Cost) × Markup 
  • Profit Margin (%) = [(Retail Price- Cost) ÷ Retail Price] 
  • Retail Price: rounded up to nearest £1 or £0.50

Q: Can different units be used instead of stitches?
A: Units such as stitches, kilowatt-hours, pours, or other measurable units can be entered.

Q: How is the retail price rounded?
A: Rounded up to the nearest £1 or £0.50.

Q: Can formulas be entered into the template?
