The Story Behind Jade Crafts Shetland

The Story Behind Jade Crafts Shetland

Lucinda Winks

Hello! I’m Lucinda, the maker behind Jade Crafts Shetland and owner of Da Craft Shed in Dunrossness. I’ve always loved creating — from drawing animals as a child to discovering embroidery and textiles later in life — but I never imagined it would grow into a business that connects me with so many wonderful people.

My inspiration comes from the place I call home — Shetland. Our wildlife, colour-changing skies, croft houses and coastline all play a part in the designs I stitch, print and create. Puffins are often the stars of the show, but I also love sheep in woolly hats, Fair Isle patterns and little nods to island life.

What began at a kitchen table slowly grew — from selling my work at fairs to launching my brand and then opening Da Craft Shed, a cosy space where over 20 talented local makers can show and sell their work. Seeing other crafters thrive alongside me has become one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

Thank you for being here and for supporting small independent businesses like mine. Every comment, visit, share and sale truly means the world.

I can’t wait to share more of my creative adventures with you — from new designs to behind-the-scenes stories right here on the blog.
